AJ Oberlender is a brand strategist and tech leader based in Miami. He started his career with a political science degree, earned an MBA from Florida International University, and spent five years on the floor of the Aventura Apple Store, where he learned that people buy confidence before they buy products.
In 2022, DoorLoop’s leadership told him they had tried building a website division at a previous company and couldn’t make it work. His answer was “Cool, I won’t fail.” He published the division’s first site in November 2022 and has since grown it past 1,000 published websites while running it essentially alone, a case study in constraint-driven process design that he now teaches to other operators.
Outside DoorLoop, AJ founded Zossoz, a brand and web consultancy serving small businesses, and created Derekh Learning, an iOS app that uses AI as a chevruta (study partner) for Torah, Talmud, and Jewish wisdom. He also partners with early-stage startups on product strategy, working for equity rather than cash, and built a free feature-prioritization tool used by founders to separate user need from founder ego.
AJ speaks about intrapreneurship, the psychology of the client yes, post-MVP product strategy, and building AI products with intention. He writes at ajoberlender.com about branding, product, fatherhood, and Jewish life. He lives in Miami with his wife Mazi and their daughters Yael and Diana, and has not missed a Dolphins game in years.
