I went to sleep last night next to my tearful wife hoping to wake up to something else. But, alas that didn’t happen. Instead I woke up to my worst case scenario when this election started two years ago, and have struggled to answer texts from friends and family asking me where do we go now?
Not physically “where do we move” but, where do we go as a nation who just showed its worst side. A nation that has proven that racism, sexism, anti-semitism, and xenophobia are still alive and thriving in 2016. In Abraham Lincoln’s inaugural address he closed out saying (paraphrased by another source) “We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.” This is how I feel right now. I want to be optimistic even though it feels very hard to be. Going forward, I plan to be more active on this blog. I understand if people don’t agree with my views but, be respectful as I plan to be if you comment with your views. Our job is to shape the world that we want to live in everyday. But, also the world that we want our sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, and grandchildren to live in. I call on my friends and family to keep in mind in the coming days that “History has its eyes on you.”
I am an experienced leader with a proven record of success in sales, marketing, operations, customer service and team productivity.
